Victorinox
SwissTool Plus
The perfect Geek's pocket knife.
A friend of mine brought back one of these from a trip to
Europe about six months ago and I immediately had to have one. My old
Leatherman is a great tool but it doesn't have that far out bit wrench,
which always comes in handy when you want to get into those devices
that you are not supposed to get into.
Void the warranty of that new PowerBook. Who me? No I'll be
carefull, they will never know I opened it up. Just hand me my Swiss
Army knife and we will be inside within seconds.
You all know what I'm talking about.
SwissTools
go one step beyond Swiss Army knives -- they are industrial strength
multitools for professionals or the weekend handyman. Ingeniously
designed, you can access tools from the outside even when the pliers
are closed (into a 9" long rectangle) for compact storage. For safety,
the tools lock into place when opened. Carry one in your toolbox, glove
compartment or attach it to your waist with its handy deluxe belt pouch.
The SwissTool Plus has the
"basic" 27 features:
1. Pliers, 2. Screwdriver (2mm), 3. Screwdriver (3mm), 4. Wire Cutter,
5. Screwdriver (5mm), 6. Bottle Opener, 7. Screwdriver (7.5mm), 8.
Large Blade, 9. Serrated Blade, 10. Metal File, 11. Metal Saw, 12. Wood
Saw, 13. Reamer, 14. Phillips Screwdriver, 15. Chisel / Scraper, 16.
Strong Crate Opener, 17. Wire Bender, 18. Wire Stripper, 19. Wire
Scraper, 20. Wire Crimper, 21. Can Opener, 22. Rules (230mm), 23. Ruler
(9 inches), 24. Hard Wire Cutter, 25. Lanyard Hole, 26. Easy Kickback
Springs, 27. Lock Release.
Plus the Geek Tools - 6
Bits, a Bit Case and a Bit Wrench:
28. Phillips #0, 29. Phillips #3,
30. Torx #10, 31. Torx #15, 32. Hex. #3, 33. Hex #4, 34. Bit Case and
35. Bit Wrench.
And a full Lifetime Warranty.

Casio Exilim Zoom EX- Z4
The
first thing you notice about this camera
is how thin it is.
Then you
notice is how large the LCD screen is. The 2 inch LCD seems to take up
most of the back of the camera and is by far the most comfortable small
camera LCD screen I have used.
Even with my glasses on, most of the LCD screens seem much too small. I
gave the camera to a few other people, who didn't require glasses, and
they all felt the same way. The LCD screen really makes it a pleasure
to use this camera.

Apple iPod and
Belkin iPod Media Reader
It has been awhile since I have either
used or reviewed an iPod
but it is a really nice device to have. In January of 2003 not too many
people had seen them yet, so I purposely pulled it out and played with
it everywhere I went, just to see what people's reactions where.
As a lot of you
have found out since, everyone wants to try it and you
have a hard time getting it back. I would imagine there have been a few
"oh can I try it too?" snatch and grabs in busy places.
The only thing
that has kept me from aquiring one for myself is the
inability to download files from a digital camera, the single biggest
use I have for portable hard disk drive. Since Belkin has come out with
the iPod Media Reader, I no longer have that excuse.

Leica Digilux 2
The 'digital analog' EVF camera from Leica. Massive f2 lens, old 35mm
style manual aperture and manual shutter speed controls.
There is a Panasonic branded version of this camera available at a
lower price. It unfortunately does not have as nice looking of a body
or
the prestigious Leica name, but it is virtually the same camera.
I hope to get at least one version of the camera for a test soon.
