Unveils Faster iBooks
New iBook Line With Scrolling TrackPad & Sudden Motion Sensor
Starts at Just $999
CUPERTINO, California—July 26,
2005—Apple® today enhanced its
affordable iBook® G4 line for consumers and education customers
with
faster Power PC G4 processors running up to 1.42 GHz, 512MB memory
across the line, higher performance graphics and built-in AirPort®
Extreme and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. The new iBooks feature two
patent-pending Apple technologies made popular in the PowerBook® G4
line, the scrolling TrackPad and the Sudden Motion Sensor, with prices
starting at an affordable $999.

Encased in a sleek, durable
polycarbonate plastic enclosure, the new
12- and 14-inch iBooks offer improved performance with either a 1.33
GHz or 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4 processor and provide up to six hours of
battery life for all-day use on the road or in the classroom.** Each
iBook features the ATI Mobility Radeon 9550 with 32MB of dedicated
video memory for improved graphics and either a slot-load SuperDrive™,
for burning DVDs and CDs, or a slot-load Combo drive for watching DVDs
and burning CDs. Every iBook also includes a scrolling TrackPad to
easily scroll through long web pages or pan across large photographs
and Apple’s Sudden Motion Sensor technology to help protect a spinning
hard drive if the notebook is accidentally dropped.
Apple continues to lead the
industry in integrated wireless
communications and is the first computer maker to include both 802.11g
and Bluetooth 2.0 wireless technologies across its entire line of
notebook products. Every iBook now features built-in Bluetooth 2.0
(Enhanced Data Rate) and integrated AirPort Extreme 54 Mbps 802.11g
WiFi wireless networking. Bluetooth 2.0+EDR delivers up to three times
greater data rates for faster wireless connectivity to a range of
peripherals and is also compatible with Bluetooth 1.2 devices such as
the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. The new iBooks also include
built-in 10/100 BASE-T Ethernet for high-speed networking, two USB 2.0
ports and one FireWire® 400 port for easy plug-and-play connections
to
popular peripherals such as Apple’s market-leading iPod® digital
music
player, digital video camcorders, digital still cameras and printers.

Mac OS X version 10.4 “Tiger,” the
fifth major release of the

The 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4 iBook,
weighing just 4.9 pounds, has a
suggested retail price of $999 (US) and includes:

FRANCISCO—January 7, 2003—Apple® today unveiled the
new 12-inch PowerBook® G4 with a brilliant 12-inch, active-matrix
display housed in a lightweight, durable aluminum alloy enclosure
weighing just 4.6 pounds*. The sleek new 12-inch PowerBook G4 offers a
speedy 867 MHz PowerPC G4 processor, fast NVIDIA graphics, a standard
slot-loading Combo (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) optical drive, built-in Bluetooth,
and industry-leading battery life of up to five hours on a single
charge, all for just $1,799 (US).
“The new 12-inch PowerBook G4 is a

created and the most compact full-featured 12-inch notebook in the

Offering a brilliant 12-inch,
active-matrix display with a
1024-by-768 pixel resolution, the new PowerBook G4 measures just over
1-inch thin and weighs just 4.6 pounds. The new 12-inch PowerBook G4
has a 867 MHz PowerPC G4 processor with Velocity Engine™ and offers
256MB of fast Double Data Rate (DDR) memory (expandable to 640MB) and a
fast NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go graphics processor with 32MB of dedicated
DDR RAM for incredible 3D graphics and display performance. The
standard slot-loading Combo optical drive lets customers watch DVDs and
burn both data and music CDs. Customers can also build-to-order their
12-inch PowerBook G4 with a slot-loading SuperDrive™ for playing and

The new 12-inch PowerBook G4
includes built-in Bluetooth for wireless
connections to Bluetooth-enabled peripherals such as cell phones and
PDAs. Apple’s new iSync software is also included, so customers can
automatically synchronize address books and calendars between Macs and
Bluetooth devices. The new 12-inch PowerBook G4 also includes built-in
antennas and a card slot to support AirPort® Extreme, Apple’s
next-generation wireless networking based on 802.11g**. 802.11g can
transmit data at up to 54 Mbps, almost five times the data rate of
